New Monument Trail Preview

By October 2, 2012No Comments

This past weekend we got to check out the progress the Forest Service has made this year on the new Monument trail. This will be an awesome new trail opening even more riding possibilities connecting the TRT, Star Lake and Cold Creek Trails.

Great alignment with fun terrain and views of High Meadow, Monument Peak, Trimmer, Jobs and Freel. At the top of Cold Creek Trail the new Monument trail will snake above a drainage filled with aspens which were just starting to turn golden yellow.

Along with Jacob from the USFS we had 16 TAMBA volunteers hand building the lower ½ mile of trail out of High Meadow, buffing out and finishing trail from the mini-excavator that left a nice 30” tread.

The trail is not ready to ride and does not connect through yet. The Forest Service only has 7 people working out there until October 15th and there’s still about half the trail that needs to be built including some massive rock work.
If all goes well, this new trail be open around August 1st next year.
