End of Season Party
What: TAMBA End of Season Party and PEDAL-DRIVEN Movie Screening
Where: Mo’s Place– 3600 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe
When: Wednesday, November 30th @ 6pm till…
About: It’s been one heck of a successful year, so let’s get together and celebrate that! We are stoked to be able to screen the IMBA/Howell-at-the-Moon Productions award winning “bikeumentary” PEDAL-DRIVEN at our End of Season party on Wednesday, November 30. Social Hour starts at 6pm. At 7pm we’ll do a presentation of what TAMBA has done this year and some of the exciting things we plan to do next year. We will also recognize some folks who have gone above and beyond this year. The 63 minute movie will start at 7:30, and we’ll wrap up with the raffle around 8:45. You need not be present to win, we’ll post the winning numbers on the website afterwards. We have some great raffle prizes from our sponsors for $1 raffle tickets. Buy a few tickets and help us purchase a tool cache for trail work!
Instead of charging admission for the movie, we’re doing it as a membership drive: the party is free to all new or renewing TAMBA members! Join or renew online now or at the party, and not only will it count towards 2012, but membership fees are still only $10 for an individual or $20 for a family. Starting in January, memberships will be $20 Individual/$30 Family. Renew now and save!
Thanks so much to our raffle sponsors for helping make this happen! Kirkwood, CLIF Bar, Bike Habitat, Black Rock Bicycles, Svadhyaya Yoga, Wattabike, CAMELBAK, BANG BANG, Pearl Izumi, South Shore Bikes, One World Healing Massage, The Studio Pilates, RISE, Village Ski Loft, Sports LTD. From ski tickets and gift certificates to a cruiser bike, we’ll have some great prizes!
Genoa Trail day - Saturday Nov. 12th
We started the season here with the IMBA Trail Care Crew visit in April. CVTA has been busy all summer working on the Sierra Canyon Trail with trail machines putting in around 13 miles of new trail. Now they are trying to finish the last half mile section by hand. Let’s head down there and help them out!! Meet at the end of Carson Street (2 blocks south of the 4-way intersection) in Genoa this Saturday at 9am. Bring your own lunch, we’ll be eating on the trail, about a 15 minute hike in. For those that stay till the end, TAMBA will buy the first round at the oldest bar in Nevada, walking distance from the trailhead! Wearing layers would be good and typical safety items like safety glasses/sunglasses and gloves. We’ll have the hardhats.
Perfect weather, great riding and some healthy trail work capped off TAMBA’s Trail Showcase on October 22 and 23rd.
On Saturday we went back out to Saxon Creek Trail (Mr Toads) for the second month in a row to make some much needed improvements on the newer section just after the main rocky waterfall. There were 17 TAMBA volunteers and 4 Forest Service workers out there building berms, rock armoring steep sections, and formally opening the rock drop to slab cut off. Lunch was donated by Yellow Sub. After working and riding down, Kent at Watta Bike threw us a BBQ and had some great raffle prizes for volunteers (shirts, jerseys, gloves, goggles).
On Sunday nearly 40 riders gathered for the Star Lake Group Ride. The ride was about 20 miles long, mostly on sweet single track including a super fun decent on the brand new Star Lake Connector Trail built by the Forest Service this summer. Beer and pizza at Blue Dog capped off the day.
Thanks to everyone that pitched in for trail work this year. We made some huge steps forward! Stay tuned for our TAMBA trail work days next year. If you have ideas or suggestions or just want to get involved drop an email to trails
